Odisha’s Pen in Books Selected as Only Indian Publisher for Indonesia International Book Fair

Odia Media Pvt. Ltd., a publishing company based in Odisha, with its imprint 'Pen In Books' to Represent India at 46th Indonesia International Book Fair Starting from September 30, 2026.

Odia Media Pvt. Ltd., has been selected as the only publishing company in India to be awarded the fellowship for the Indonesia Rights Fair to be held during the book fair from September 30 to October 2. It is anticipated that the rights fair will see participation from more than 10
publishing houses across the world, with 28 organizations chosen for the fellowship program.

The Indonesia International Book Fair and the Indonesia Rights Fair are jointly organized by the Indonesian Publishers Association and the Ministry of Culture of Indonesia. These fairs offer publishers a chance to exhibit books, look for international rights and connect with publishing houses from different markets.

The publishing portfolio of Odia Media Private Limited has been built with the help of an imprint known as PEN IN BOOKS that mainly concentrates on Odia literature. The imprint has been set up in the year 2006 and then merged with Odia Media Private Limited in 2017. The imprint has published over 800 books, most of which are in Odia language.

According to Subhransu Panda who is the Managing Director and novelist of the company, this participation is done to take the literature of Odisha to the readers outside India. The publisher is hoping that the participation in the international fair will result in translation and publication of Odia literature in other languages as well as introducing international literature to the Odia readers.

This participation in the international book fair is just a step of the plan by the publisher to bring Odia literature to the global publishers’ forum. Subhransu Panda says that the Odia Media Private Limited is planning to exhibit Odia books in at least three international book fairs in 2026.
